Q. What type of special make-up effect do you consider to be the most popular today in films, commercials, or music video clips?

A. In films - mainly historical and casualty effects. In commercials
and music - period, historical and futuristic styling.

Q. What is the typical process for the creation of a character or creature? How do you approach it (are there any tricks)?

A. I start by understanding the script or the requirements. I research
the subject and then make my own designs. I then try a few make-up tests, take pictures and consult with people to see what they think looks the best.

Q. What types of materials do you use a lot? What are some interesting or innovative techniques?

A. I mostly use normal make-up and face paints, but there are many materials for creating special effects, such as latex, foam, gelatine, dermplast and many more. Also I use modelling and casting materials such as plaster, fibreglass, clay and plastacine.

Q. What famous movies, commercials, music video clips, have you contributed in and what was your favourite in creating the make-up effects for it and why?

A. No response.

Q. Has anyone freaked out on you on a particular effect that you created on them before the filming?

A. No, never. It's only make-up, a little paint that washes off, that's all.

Q. How has CGI affected you and the special make-up industry in general?

A. CGI has not affected me personally but it is affecting the film make-up industry, and it will get worse in the future as computers are getting cheaper, faster and better.

Q. Where do you see special make-up effects ten years from now?

A. Alot more CGI in ten years, and make-up programs that will reduce the need of make-up artists in films. however, there will still be need for the theatre, weddings, promotions etc.

Hope this helps. if you need any more answers let me know, and good luck with your research.
